You have heard it said, but I say to you: Murder/Anger

You have heard it said, but I say to you: Murder/Anger

In Matthew 5:21–26, Jesus goes beyond the commandment against murder and exposes the deeper sin beneath it: anger and contempt in the heart. While the law addresses outward actions, Jesus confronts the inner attitudes that fracture relationships and devalue others. Anger is not harmless, contempt is not trivial, and unresolved conflict disrupts both community and worship. True righteousness seeks reconciliation with urgency, whether with a brother or sister or an adversary. Life in God’s kingdom calls us to reject anger toward anyone and pursue peace wherever reconciliation is possible.
