Jesus, The Fulfillment

In this passage, Jesus confronts two common misunderstandings about His mission. He is neither a new “rules guy” like the Pharisees nor a rebellious rule-breaker who dismisses God’s law. Instead, Jesus declares that He has come to fulfill the Law and the Prophets—to bring them to their intended meaning, purpose, and completion. Jesus fulfills the Law by embodying it, obeying it perfectly, and ultimately completing its purpose. In Him, God’s commands are no longer a ladder to climb or a burden to bear, but a life to be lived—one that reflects the heart of God made visible in Christ.
